Teacher Productivity Using Technology
Teachers have precious little time to plan, grade, make parent phone calls, and stay up to date with current educational pedagogy. As a teacher, it is essential to work smarter, not harder. Therefore, productivity tools online and on tablet devices make teachers’ lives easier. Here, we introduce you to some of the best productivity apps for teachers -- SpeedGrader, Evernote, DocScanPro, Dropbox, and Symbaloo.
Speed Grader: Speed Grader links with Canvas, a learning management program. It does exactly what the title says: grades assignments in a speedy way. The program lists all turned in assignments and allows the teacher to go through each assignment, assign a grade, and leave comments for the student. It automatically puts the grades into Canvas.
Evernote: Need to make a note about everything in your life and organize it too? Evernote is exactly what you need. With this desktop or tablet application you can: remember things you like, save favorite websites, work with colleagues on one document, plan your next trip, and keep it all in sync. If you are looking for a way to organize your life without lugging around a sticky-note-filled-agenda, Evernote is your new best friend!
DocScanPro: This application turns a tablet device into a scanner by using the camera to take pictures of documents, and turn them into PDFs. It makes it quick and easy to upload student assignments, archive excellent student work, and organize that stack of papers that glares at us from its spot in the corner.
Dropbox: This website and application can be used anywhere, and we mean anywhere. As a teacher and human being, you want quick access to files you use, whenever you need them. Dropbox works like Google Drive in allowing you to pull up presentations, documents, forms, and files from your smart phone, tablet, or computer.
Symbaloo: Is the bookmark tab of your internet browser filling up? Ours is too. Symbaloo is a great website where you can easily organize and bookmark all of your most important finds. You can separate your Symbaloo into separate chapters, topics, or standards. Your information is hosted online so that it cannot be lost!
